Reviews of The Merck Veterinary Manual

A review from a satisfied buyer reads, ‘This is an excellent book that I keep on my desk as one of my trusted references. It is well written and it’s easy find the items one is researching. Regardless if you are a professional or a student this is a must have in pinch.’

Moreover, another customer said, ‘Excellent reference for the veterinarian, pet/livestock owner or zoologist. Incredible value for money, the 11th. edition (2016) has over 3000 top quality pages. Always good to get the latest Merck Manual and it’s amazing how much things change in the 5 years between editions. Interesting that this is available in traditional book format. Several other Merck Manuals are now digital only.’

Another review of this textbook reads, ‘A great reading tool for every veterinarian (student and non-student) that keeps you informed and reminds you of details you would spend a whole amount of time finding online or in other multiple books.’

This manual meets the buyers’ expectations and they found it very useful. The concise format offers an excellent set of information which are a superb addition to the professional reading library. I have recently bought the 11th edition which comes with over 3000 pages of easy-to-follow format. It was written by Susan E. Aiello and Michael A. Moses and published by Merck & Co., Inc. and Merial Limited.

I found it extremely useful as the information is presented in an accessible manner, which makes it a go-to reference for quick help with practical questions. Nevertheless, it is a matter of time until I get the latest edition, which seems better than ever.

This textbook isn’t only a quick reference, but great for general knowledge, especially if you are in the veterinary field. However, if you still don’t own a copy of this manual, you should get it as soon as possible. The most convenient way is probably getting it from Amazon. Considering the amount of information this reference manual contains, it is a great value for money. It features a hard cover, 3325 pages, and a countless number of color images to illustrate the text.

However, last year, the 20th edition of the Merck Veterinary Manual was published. It is the most comprehensive edition so far and comes with over 200 new tables, 36 new chapters, and over 100 new figures and photos. There are revised chapters in several sections, including Cardiovascular, Genitourinary, Gynecology, Neurology, Pregnancy, Infants and Children, and Pediatrics and Trauma sections. Likewise, each chapter consists of key points which summarize the facts at-a-glance. The 20th edition of the Merck Veterinary Manual was written by Robert S. Porter, who is also editor-in-chief of The Merck Manuals.

This world’s most trusted medical reference is a must-have for medical students, residents, practicing physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals.
